              Many people go to Athens because of the significance of the battle that was fought there. But Athens was a town, where people lived and worked. Step down the road, stop and close your eyes. Can you hear it? The sound of the hammer striking the metal at the blacksmith's shop. The rattling of the harness as the horses pull wagons thru the town, loaded with supplies from the mercantile. The children playing in the yards of their homes.
